Místo znám již od svých ranných let, kdy jsme kolem do nedalekých Pikovic jezdili na chatu. Štěchovická přehrada se stavěla podle prvorepublikových plánů a dostavěla se za protektorátu. Nacisté zde měli v plánu separovat těžkou vodu pro výrobu jaderné energie, ale nakonec toho naštěstí nedosáhli. Výkon elektrárny je cca 22,5 MW.
